Award-winning independent financial advisor Claire Mackay appointed to the Accounting Professional & Ethical Standards Board (APESB).

The Board welcomes Ms Mackay’s range and depth of expertise which includes roles at Macquarie Bank and PwC.

According to the APESB

“A business owner and principal advisor at Quantum Financial, Ms Mackay is also a qualified Chartered Accountant, Certified Financial Planner, self-managed super fund expert and a qualified lawyer.”
This appointment to the Accounting Professional and Ethical Standards Board (APESB) brings equal numbers of men and women to the Board for the first time. The Board also now has directors from five states across Australia – enhancing its diversity in a number of ways.

About Claire
Claire is the youngest ever member appointed to the Board of the APESB and the first financial planning practitioner.
Claire holds a BCom and LLB from Macquarie University, and an LLM from the University of Sydney. She is a Chartered Accountant, a Chartered Accountant – Financial Planning and SMSF Specialist, a Certified Financial Planner and a Chartered Tax Adviser. Claire is a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Claire is admitted to the NSW Supreme Court and is an officer in the Australian Army (Reserve Inactive).
Claire lectures in financial planning and corporate finance at Macquarie University. She is a member of ASIC’s External Advisory Panel, the ATO’s Superannuation Industry Relationship Network (SIRN) body and Professional Planner Magazine’s Advisory Panel. Claire was formerly an industry representative on the Financial Ombudsman Service’s (FOS) Investments, Life Insurance and Superannuation panel. Claire is a member of the judging panel for Money Management’s Financial Planner of the Year Award.

About the Accounting Professional & Ethical Standards Board (APESB)
The Accounting Professional & Ethical Standards Board (APESB) is an independent body whose purpose is to develop and issue, in the public interest, high quality professional and ethical standards.
CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants Australian and New Zealand (CAANZ) and the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA) are the three Members of the APESB.
APESB issues standards that outline the responsibilities of professional accountants to act professionally and ethically when they are performing their role. APESB standards are mandatory for accounting professionals who are members of CPA Australia and CAANZ.
The APES Board is chaired by The Honorable Nicola Roxon, Australia’s first female Attorney-General.
